This digital print (11x14) is of the Calanthean Temple, located on the outskirts of downtown Shreveport in the 1000 block of Texas Avenue, was a pinnacle for thriving black business and social life in the early 1900s. It was the hub for doctor, lawyer, oil and gas companies and other professional offices when segregation laws prevented black professionals from inhabiting downtown office spaces. Cora M. Allen had the vision to build this building.
